We were really excited that Myra's birthday was on a Saturday, so that we could spend all day with her. The kids all get so excited for birthdays, so the countdown had been going on for some time. They all woke up early and excited! Myra opened up a few presents in the morning, then we had breakfast and had the kids get ready for the day.
After that, we gave her her "big" present. Inside of the gift were
clues to take her on a Treasure hunt! We were really glad we had
planned this for her, because while she was guessing this morning what
her big gift would be, she guessed correctly and Noah told her she was
right, so she was a little upset about that. But, I think the treasure
hunt made it all ok and exciting.
Chad did an awesome job of putting
together little riddles she had to solve that took her around to a bunch
of different parks in the area. We all hoped on the bikes and went out
on the adventure with her. She did a pretty good job of figuring out
all the clues. There was only one that she got a little stuck on, but
her siblings were able to help her out. It ended up being a really fun
birthday adventure. She was very excited about her new camera, that just happened to be hidden back at home the entire time! =)
This clue was hidden inside of the tire swing behind Myra. It was occupied and didn't look likely to be vacated for a while. Myra was really embarrassed to go up and ask to look inside it. She finally did and the woman of course, was happy to help her out.
The "Harry Potter" playground is awesome to look at, but definitely a little too advanced for young kids. Noah got stuck and Chad had to go up and rescue him.
That afternoon we drove up to Helsingør to
have dinner at a yummy Chinese buffet, where, to our surprise, Myra got
to eat free on her birthday! They even put a little flag on the table
in front of her, she was delighted. She was even more excited about the
all you can eat ice cream bar and she went back for 3 large bowlfuls! I
think she felt a little sick after.
After that we went and walked
around a little castle that was recently refurbished in the area and
then headed back home for cake, not that we were hungry for anything
else to eat. =)
Myra loved her Turtle Cake and birthday theme. It was a really fun day with our beautiful 9 year old daughter!
Myra asked for the little turtle, so we obliged.
