We haven't gotten out to do much sightseeing lately, because it's been so rainy. But, a couple of weeks ago, we decided to head over to Roskilde to see the Cathedral there. The sky was questionable, but the weather site said that it shouldn't rain. So, we decided to risk it. This was our first time using the Regional (Fast) train. We got on and got going, no problem. But, we couldn't find anywhere on the train that told us what stop was what. The map made it look like there should be 3 stops before ours, but when we go to the first stop, Chad thought he should hop off and look at the station sign. He frantically jumped back on the train and hollered for us to get off, it was our stop! In the craziness, we forgot our stroller that we had stuck inside a little nook on the train. Ugh! As soon as we got off, we realized we had left it, but it was too late. What was funny is that Myra and Lexi had little break-downs over it, crying and such. They don't even use it! We had a little talk about how we could let it ruin our day, or we could just keep going. They decided they would be alright, so we headed off into the town. It was such a cute little village. We haven't explored much outside of the Copenhagen area, so this was different.
The streets were really narrow and the architecture was so neat looking. Unfortunately, as we kept walking, it started to rain, and rain, and rain. And no umbrellas! We passed by a beautiful old church.
I ran into the grounds area and snapped a couple of pictures, but the rain was starting to come down pretty hard.
We finally reached the Cathedral.
By this time, it was really pouring. We briefly walked through the little farmers market going on outside of it
and into the Cathedral, only to find out it was closed because of a funeral. So, we had a couple of options. We could wait around until it opened up again, in another 2 hours, or we could find something else to do. There are a lot of things to see/do in Roskilde, but they all required a bit of walking and the rain was not letting up. So, we decided to just call it a day and headed home. Chad later commented that we should have just let losing the stroller ruin our day and headed home then. Oh well. It was an adventure. We'll definitely head back to Roskilde, hopefully soon! And when it's not raining!
Update on the stroller: This was a pretty big loss for us! It's just a little umbrella stroller, but they don't really sell this simple of a stroller, that we've seen. And we use it ALL the time. So, the next week, we started making some phone calls, trying to track it down. Chad went into the Copenhagen Central station and was able to find someone that was able to find it for us. The stroller had actually ended up in a town called Esbjerg, all the way on the opposite side of the country. And of course, they couldn't just send it back on the next train to the Copenhagen lost and found. We ended up having to pay about $23 to have it shipped back. I think that was more than we paid for it to begin with. Well, it arrived today and we are so happy to have our stroller back!
Oh man it sounds like the elements really combined against you! What a bummer to go all that way. Sorry it cost so much, but glad you got the stroller back.
