Since there are few baptisms here, we basically got to choose our date and time and put together our own program. Myra was so excited, she passed out invitations to half ward.
Leading up to her baptism, she was really worried about what she was going to wear. I had looked a little for a nice white dress, but couldn't find anything here, so I told Myra she would just have to wear one of her regular dresses. She was a little sad, but always a good sport. But, in reality, my Mom and Sister had picked out a dress for her and sent it with Chad's parents. She was absolutely delighted in her new white dress.
The morning of the baptism was a little stressful, the building was locked when we got there and we had a difficult time getting someone to come and open it for us. It was a rush once we got in, we still had to get the font filled up, everything set up, food prepared and I had to practice the piano with the girl doing the musical number. Needless to say, I was pretty stressed and barely finished everything in time for the baptism to start. When it was all over I realized that I hadn't even taken any pictures with Myra and her Dad before the baptism, in their white clothing. That made me pretty sad.
Anyway, once the baptism started, it was just wonderful. We had very touching talks by Grandad, Chad and our Bishop. Our friend, Dana, stepped up for us at the last minute and sang a beautiful solo. Myra was all smiles the entire time. When it came time for the baptism part, she was so excited. And then, of course, she stuck her foot out of the water, so she had to get "dunked" twice. It was such a nice program, the spirit was so strong.
After we had a nice time visiting with family and friends. It was such a special day, we only wish that my parents could have been there. Myra continues to be delighted with the fact that she's been baptized and is now a member of the church. She's such a sweet girl and we are so proud of the choices she has made.
