Towards the beginning of August, we went to the Frilandsmuseet in
Lyngby. I think the longest train ride we've taken since we've lived
here. The museum, built in 1897 is one of the oldest and largest open
air museums in the world. They are pretty common here in Europe. I
know of several others in Denmark alone. It was pretty neat. There are
over 100 buildings that date from 1650 to 1950 that have been moved
from their original spots to the museum. They've been then "fixed" up
so that they are safe to go into. It was pretty neat to see all of
these old buildings and imagine what people use to live in. The kids
even got to take a ride on an old Merry Go Round. We had a really nice
day exploring and I'm sure we'll go back again.
My favorite, the Water Mill. |
